Sunday went great

So on sunday i brewed an Amber again, and it was by far the easiest brew day to date. I had no problems what so ever, except my sparge arm which i'm still working on. The OG came out to be 1.060 on 11 gal, and i was shooting for 10 so it could have gone higher. I uses Kent Goldens and UK Fuggles for this one, just trying things out. If the beer comes out the way i hope it will be used at a music festival for the headliners at the main stage. The cool is a nice Amber and the smell is some what fruity. I dont know that the Fuggles will do, but it's not as bitter as my last one.

Brew Off Update

Well as far as the competition goes, i was told i was up against 13 other porters, and between 1st and 3rd the pts spread was 1.5 pts and i was 2 pts from 1st, so it was a close race. I'm happy to hear that i did that good, though it would have been nice to get 3rd.

Brew off

So today I got my comment cards in the mail from my first brewing competition. I sent in my Plow Head Porter and got some good feed back. I didn't win or anything but I'm glad about that. I still have to improve. So I got a 35 out of 50, which when you do the math really isn't that good. But I guess in their standards it a Very Good, So thats great to hear. Both comment cards said about the some thing. One was under carbonation which I figured would happen and the other pts where for flavor, which kind of through me off, because I though it had to much flavor for it's style, but o well. It was a good experience over all.
