Pale Ale update

Well after one week and a few days, it's looking good. The gravity started at about 1.054 and is still falling and just got below 1.018. Even with all the trub in the glass it still tasted much better than the last one did, so that i great thing. It looks like it will be a great improvement and right back to where i was before the few failures.

On a different note, i just got back from Portland OR, "the home of microbrews" and all in all i was not that impressed. I think I feel a little bitter about a horrible beer that i had at a very small brewery call Tug Boat Brewing Co. I was hoping to get some good, full bodied beers at such a small place. They only brewed 1.5 barrels at a time and I was hoping that would mean they are surviving due to the kill beer, but christ i had to take two drinks of a red ale and leave. I had such a bad, bitter, hop water taste left in mouth that i had to go into the closed hotel bar and down 2 buds, just to wash all the taste from my mouth. It's been about 5 days, and i think i can still taste it. Ok well i don't have any more time to talk right now, for i have a final in 1.25 hrs and haven't opened the book all sem. WISH ME LUCK!

Today was great day for brewing and the process was just like the day, all around very enjoyable. My OG was a little low, but thats OK, well deal with that later. At least i know what i did wrong and that wont happen again. I'll let you know who it end though.

Pale Ale

Well the weather for perfect yesterday for a full day of being in the back yard and cooking up some barley. I messed with a new idea about how i could make more than 10 gals at a time and it work to some extent. I was shooting for 15 gals but i only got about 12 gals, but it is better then 10 gals. and i proved my idea would work. What is the idea exactly? Don't worry about it, it's for me to know and you to just enjoy more beer at my house. HAHHA Sorry, no the idea is just to simple and stupid to talk about so i'm not going to. I brewed a Pale Ale yesterday that is doing great right now. I pitch my 1090 yeast slurry in the fermenter around 3:30pm and when i had gotten home around 6:15pm the beer was already going nuts. Maybe it's making up for the slacking that occurred last time, 43hr to be exact. Well i really don't have to much more on the subject today so i'm going to leave it at that. I'll tell you more about the beer when I taste it in a few weeks.

Dry Stout

So I got to brew this weekend for the first time sense Nov. 23 and boy did it feel good. The day was quit enjoyable and the weather was perfect. All in all the brew day was great, with no problems, over temps, boil overs or anything. How ever it did take almost 48 hours for the fermentation to start, but sense it has, it's rock'n and roll'n. I build a new union fermentation setup so bye bye to the glass carboys that I hate some much. More details on that later.

I might just get to brew this weekend

I might just get to brew this weekend for the first time in 3 months. I don't even remember what my last beer was or what it tasted like. I really hope the weather does my a favor and stay the hell away from the backyard.
